How We Keep Your Files Private
Most online converters send your file to a server, process it there, and send a result back. HEEDHIPPO works differently: the tool's code is downloaded to your browser, and your browser does the work on your own device. Your file is never uploaded, so there is nothing on our side to leak, store or sell.
What this means
- Private: your files are read by your own browser and never leave your device.
- Fast: there is no upload or download wait for your input.
- Works offline: once a page has loaded, many tools keep working without a connection.
Check it yourself in a minute
- Open any tool on this site, for example Merge PDF.
- Open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac) and choose the Network tab.
- Clear the list, add a file and run the tool.
- Look at the requests that appear. You will not see your file being sent anywhere, only the page itself and, for some tools, a library file from this same site. Filtering by Fetch/XHR should show nothing that carries your data.
- For an extra test, use the tool once, then switch your device to airplane mode and use it again. It keeps working because nothing needs a server.
A rule your browser enforces
This site sends a security header called Content-Security-Policy. It tells your browser to let the page's scripts talk only to this site and to load scripts, images and fonts only from this site. If a bug in a tool ever tried to send data to another website, your browser would block the request. You can read the header yourself: in the Network tab, click the page request and open Response headers.
What does leave your device
- Page and library downloads: your browser fetches pages and tool libraries from this site, like any website. Our host sees standard request data such as your IP address and the page requested (see the Privacy Policy).
- Analytics: if page-view counting is switched on, it uses a cookie-free Cloudflare counter that sees page views, never file contents.
- Private File Transfer and encrypted notes: these tools exist to move data between people. Files go directly from device to device with encryption (WebRTC). Notes are encrypted in your browser, and the key stays in the part of the link after the #, which browsers do not send to websites.
What we save in your browser
To make the site more convenient, it keeps a short list of the tools you recently used, a small counter and whether you dismissed the install prompt in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device and is never sent to us. The Clear button on the home page removes the list.
Limits
Because your device does the work, very large files can be slow on older phones. Some formats depend on what your browser supports, for example AVIF or WebP encoding. And no website can promise forever what it will do tomorrow, which is why we show you how to check for yourself: the Network tab shows what your browser is really sending right now.
