How to use JSON to CSV
- Paste a JSON array of objects.
- Choose the delimiter.
- Copy the CSV or paste it into a spreadsheet.
Common uses
- Opening API data in a spreadsheet.
- Exporting records for reports.
- Sharing data with non-developers.
About this tool
Convert a JSON array of objects to CSV. The columns are the union of all keys; nested objects and arrays are written as JSON text inside the cell. Fields that contain delimiters, quotes or line breaks are quoted correctly.
Worked example
An array of objects with the same keys becomes a table: the keys are the header row and each object becomes one row. This opens directly in Excel or Google Sheets.
Common problems and fixes
- Nested objects look odd.
- CSV is flat. Flatten nested data first, or convert only the level you need.
- Objects have different keys.
- Missing keys give empty cells. Check that the header row contains all the keys you need.
- Excel changes long numbers.
- Excel may show long numbers in scientific notation. Format those columns as text before opening.
