About this tool
Turn a Word (.docx) document into a simple PDF. Mammoth reads the document structure and the text is laid out on A4 pages in Helvetica, with larger bold headings, bullet points and tables written as rows. It runs entirely in your browser. For documents where design matters, export to PDF from Word itself.
Tips and limits. This is a text layout converter: headings, paragraphs, lists and tables become plain text pages in a standard font. Images, colours, columns and custom fonts are dropped, and characters outside the Latin-1 set (for example Cyrillic, Arabic or CJK) are replaced with ?.
Worked example
A .docx with headings, paragraphs, lists and simple tables becomes a clean text PDF. Fonts and exact layout of the original are not reproduced.
Common problems and fixes
- Images are missing.
- The tool converts text and structure. Use a print-to-PDF function in Word if you need exact layout with images.
- Non-Latin text.
- Documents in Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and other scripts are drawn by your browser and saved as page images, so the text cannot be selected.
- Only .docx works.
- Old .doc files must be saved as .docx first.
