About this tool
Worked example
The YAML lines name: Ana and tags: [a, b] become the JSON object {"name":"Ana","tags":["a","b"]}. Indentation in YAML defines the structure.
Common problems and fixes
- Bad indentation error.
- YAML uses spaces, never tabs. Make sure sibling keys share exactly the same indentation.
- A value turns into a boolean or number.
- Words like yes, no and on may be read as booleans and 010 as a number. Wrap the value in quotes to keep it as text.
- Anchors and aliases.
- They are resolved during conversion, so the JSON contains the repeated values in full.

Frequently asked questions
Are anchors supported?
Yes, standard YAML 1.2 features are parsed.
Why do I see an error?
Indentation mistakes are the most common cause.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device, so your files and text are never sent anywhere.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Very large files may be slow on older phones.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, most tools keep working without a connection, because processing happens on your device.
