About this tool
GIF is an older format limited to 256 colours that can store animation. PNG is a lossless format that supports transparency.
PNG keeps transparency and never loses quality when saved, though photos can come out larger than JPG. Only the first frame of an animated GIF is converted.
Drop one image or many at once: each file is converted separately in your browser using the canvas, then you download the results one by one or all together as a ZIP. Conversion keeps the original pixel dimensions. Nothing is uploaded, so private photos and documents stay on your device. Very large images (tens of megapixels) can be slow or fail on older phones.
Tips and limits. Expect larger files than JPG, because PNG is lossless. Use a compressor afterwards if size matters.

| Format | Compression | Transparency | Best for |

Frequently asked questions
Does converting GIF to PNG reduce quality?
No. PNG is lossless, so nothing is lost when saving.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes. Drop as many as you like; each is converted separately and you can download them all as a ZIP.
Will the PNG keep the original size?
Yes. Pixel dimensions are unchanged; only the file format changes.
Why is the PNG larger than my original?
PNG is lossless, so photos usually produce larger files than JPG. Run the PNG compressor afterwards to shrink it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device, so your files and text are never sent anywhere.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Very large files may be slow on older phones.
